Dutch Alphaville Society (D.A.S.) "Flame"

Managed & web mastered by:

Name:  Miriam  "Gold"
Date of birth:  21 - 02 - 72

Place of birth:  The Netherlands

When was the first time you were introduced to the music of Alphaville?
Begin 1984, I heard 'Big in Japan'  on the radio and got hooked. I immediately bought the 'Forever Young' LP, then the 'Afternoons in Utopia' LP and later 'The Breathtaking Blue' LP. Then I didn't hear anything about AV anymore and didn't find a new album. For some time I was sadly sure they had vanished. A second hand 'Forever Young' CD and the internet led me happily back to my beloved musical roots :-).

Have you ever met Marian Gold and/or Bernhard Lloyd in person?
Yes. I met Marian after the concert in Nebra (D) 30.10.1999 (special thanx to the German fanclub Golden Feeling :-) ) and the day later after the concert in Zerbst (D).

I met Marian & Bernd together on the afterparty of the concert in Bochum (D) 13.11.1999.
I also met Marian at the afterparty of the show in Tel Aviv on 25.11.99.
At the Alphaville Tribute release party on 9.12.2000 in Hamburg, I met Bernd for the 2nd time.
I also met both Marian & Bernd at the 20th anniversary party on 29.08.04 in Berlin.
Each time I felt very lucky to exchange thoughts with them :-) .

Have you any song that is special for you, and in that case, why?
It depends on my mood although most songs are for every mood but 'Big in Japan' & 'Forever Young' are always special because it was 'our' first meeting. And of course 'Flame'...

Society questions:

When and where was the Dutch Alphaville Society "Flame" formed?
Miriam got the idea to set up a Dutch Alphaville society after the show in Zerbst 31.10.1999. Traveling with Angelique Johnston (former leader of the 'International Alphaville fanclub') to the show in Bochum (13.11.1999) we decided to set up 'Flame' together. Angelique has been co-leader till oktober 2000. It has been a very pleasant co-operation.

How many citizens do you have at present ?
Since november 1999 we are now 31 citizens and we know many more keep updated through our website.

Do you release any magazine ?
No. I keep the members posted through this website via the 'nieuws' section, in Dutch.

We also have our mailinglist where we communicate with each other and where I also keep the citizens updated.
The latest news in English appears on Alphaville's official website Moonbase.

How is the society promoted to citizens that have no internet connection?
We distribute flyers at places where lot of people gather, at recordshops etc.

Furthermore we just scream about it from the roofs ;-)
We also had promotion on several Dutch radio channels.

Tell us a little about the society. What is the intention of the society?
The main goal is to get in contact with and make contact between Dutch speaking Alphaville listeners, through building a communication network, with help of our mailinglist and website
, where I keep the citizens updated with all the news around Alphaville.
Furthermore the goal is to promote Alphaville. Everybody should know that AV exists and make the greatest music !!! From there we could get in touch with more listeners and make the circle grow. We are also in contact with the other fanclubs around the world and work together.
